Deer are a constant problem across Orange County, especially on properties near woods and farmland. A regular 4- or 6-foot fence won't stop them. Deer fencing is taller and designed specifically to keep them out of gardens, orchards and landscaping.
What makes deer fencing work
- Height — typically 7 to 8 feet, because deer can clear lower fences
- Strong mesh — polypropylene or welded wire, depending on the look and durability you want
- A secure bottom — staked or tensioned so deer and smaller animals can't push under
- Proper gates — tall gates that close fully
Garden enclosures
If you only need to protect a vegetable garden, raised beds or fruit trees, a smaller enclosure costs far less than fencing the whole property. We can add a chicken-wire or hardware-cloth bottom to keep rabbits and groundhogs out too.
Deer fence FAQ
Is deer fencing ugly?
Black mesh on black posts is surprisingly hard to see from a distance, especially against woods.
Do I need to fence the whole property?
Not usually. Most homeowners fence the areas they want to protect: the garden, orchard or backyard landscaping.
